ABOUT THE SCHOOL

RAMAKRISHNA VIVEKANANDA MISSION AGARPARA KG

It has been found that every year some people collect Prospectus and Admission Form on payment of necessary charges for the same and introduce themselves as devotees/members of the Mission and afterwards sell the same to outsiders at a higher cost. Some others also tell the people that admission can be assured by paying donation to the Mission. Actually, it is not a fact. We therefore, like to caution the Guardians that the cost of the Prospectus and Admission Form has been written to the Prospectus itself and in case of donation, there are specific rules which are applicable to all. Guardians are, therefore, requested to contact the Mission Authority directly at the Headquarters– 7, Riverside Road, Barrackpore, if any doubt crops up. It may be carefully noted that no contribution should be given without obtaining a valid official receipt for the same.

The Mission has been taking care of 1355 of children consisting of orphan or destitute boys and orphan girls, ladies-in-distress, blind, deaf & dumb girls and other types of handicapped people. That is why the Government of India gave National Award to the Mission three times in 1984, 1991 and 2003. Since a large number of poor children and women depend on us, we have to collect contributions from the public in general and Guardians in particular. But no contribution is collected without a valid receipt. Guardians willing to admit their children to this Mission may kindly take a note of it. They may also kindly note that all contributions to this Mission are exempted from payment of Income Tax in terms Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

In the current era of globalization, English has become the international language of communication. In view of modern developments in the fields of Science and Technology and wide opening for job opportunities in these fields, both in India and abroad, it has become absolutely necessary to impart education at the school level through English Medium. Accordingly, the Mission started, an English Medium School for Boys named ‘Gopal Gobinda Academy’ and for Girls’ School named Nivedita Vidyapith at Barrackpore under the Syllabi of WBBSE and both the school have got good reputation in the locality. Now the Mission Administration wants to start a co-education English Medium School under CBSE at the Mission premises no. 3, B.T. Road, Agarpara, from the academic session 2015-16 with classes Lower KG, Upper KG and Class- I with a plan to extend it upto Secondary level in near future gradually.

At Barrackpore, the Mission runs at this moment a number of schools including Morning and Day sections with about 8000 students, of which only four are English Medium Schools, two each for the boys and the girls. The High school known as Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission Vidyabhawan is at 7, Riverside Road, Barrackpore and the Higher Secondary Unit is at 39, Park Road, Barrackpore. The High School and Higher secondary unit are recognized by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education respectively. There is permission of co-education in classes IX, X, XI and XII.
